Created by Emilio Vedova and his wife Annabianca, the Emilio and Annabianca Vedova Foundation, is located in Dorsoduro 42, at the Zattere in Venice. The main aim of the Foundation is to promote art and works of Emilio Vedova through a series of cultural initiatives
The exhibition spaces are two: the Magazzini del Sale and the Studio Vedova, his beloved area (Salute) and nerve center of his Venetian life; from the first studio at the Magazzini del Sale, to the San Gregorio Church, to the ex squero (the place where gondolas were made), which was his last artistic studio.
Venice Municipality designated one storehouse (the first to the left, looking the Giudecca Canal) to expose the artist’s works, just as he has always dreamt and confided to his friend Renzo Piano.
The exposition space is very big, 60 meters long and 9 meters wide, organized with a light and reversible setting up designed by Renzo Piano. The basic concept is the work going to the public, and not vice versa; for this reason has been realized a robot device, taking all the works from the warehouse and presenting them to the public, who get closer to the works walking on sloping wooden surface reminding a ship deck.
When the last work is positioned, all works are brought to the warehouse to let another sequence of works be shown.
The foundation is supported by an Administrative Committee of six members, including the President (Alfredo Bianchini), chosen by Emilio e Annabianca Vedova.
