Tales of Venice

We will start with a walk through the peaceful and picturesque areas of Cannaregio, where tales and legends about Venice still linger suspended between space and time. The Church of San Giovanni and Paolo, Santa Maria Nova, will take us among hidden gems of Venice and picturesque corners, whose beauty is even more revealed by the charm of the night. Yellow window’s lights reflecting on the canals, a gondola silently sliding around, children playing in the campos (little squares). This is the essence of Venice, what we will see while stepping through this beautiful area of the city. Always escorted by a local, passionate guide who will tell us interesting stories about Venice and answer to our curiosities about life in a water city.

Gondola in Venice: not only for tourists
Gondolas today are not only used by tourists to admire the city from the water. Not many people know that local people still take the gondola in their everyday life to cross the Grand Canal. And that’s right what we will do today! Take a gondola-traghetto to cross the famous and most beautiful canal as Venetians do. Although being a very short ride we will experience a gondola ride and will enjoy amazing night views over the Grand Canal and Rialto Bridge. It will be “breve ma intenso” (short but intense) as Italian people use to say. This ride will not only be a paradise-like opportunity for photography lovers, but it will also take us from the Sestiere (Venice’s district) Cannaregio to another one: San Marco. Cool, isn’t it?

It’s always Ombra & Cicchetti Time
The magic of Venice lies in the labyrinth of its back alleys and the thriving “bacari” that are hidden there, away from the crowds and touristic places. The bacari are characteristic little bars where locals use to stroll in the evening or while heading home from work, between an “ombra” and a “cicchetto”. “Ombra” in Venetian dialect means “glass of wine”, while “cicchetto” is the traditional snack locals use to have while sipping their wine. Get ready to lose yourself in unexpected delights and the real side of Venice, with lively locals and their traditions.
