Built in 1575 by Andrea Palladio where once there was a hospital for poors, between SS. Giovanni e Paolo and S. Francesco della Vigna, this church enhanced during the 17th and 18th century with a creative façade, exquisite paintings thanks to the hospital’s benefactors.
The church was built under the project of Baldassarre Longhena, who also designed the inner altars.
In its interior, works by Jacopo Palma il Giovane and by G.B. Tiepolo. To be mentiond also the golden pipe organ enriched with sculptures and polychrome decorations.

The Church of Santa Maria dei Derelitti will host the exhibition "Aechi / Tree / Tecture", a project of the Lithuania Pavilion as part of the 2025 Architecture Biennale, on view from May 10 to November 23, 2025.
