The magnificent Palazzo Cini, overlooking the Grand Canal on one side, and on the other on San Vio canal, is located halfway between the Accademia and the Guggenheim Foundation. In the XVI century palace, once house of Vittorio Cini, are kept important art collections belonged to the Count, whose daughters Yana (Venice 1924 – Rome 1989) gave to the Giorgio Cini Foundation in 1984, together with the part of the palace where the collections are.
In the halls on the noble floor, with furniture and art furnishings, which give the house an authentic character, there is the Vittorio Cini collection. It includes paintings from the XIII until the XVI century and some Tuscan school paintings, such as Giunta Pisano (the processional Cross), Taddeo Gaddi (S. Giovanni Evangelista accolto in cielo), Bernardo Daddi (Crocifissione), Lorenzo di Niccolò, Filippo Lippi (Madonna col Bambino, santi, angeli e un devoto), Piero della Francesca (Madonna col Bambino), Sandro Botticelli (Giudizio di Paride).
Among the art paintings, there are also some important pottery, chinaware – a Cozzi’s Venetian XVI century pottery set with 275 pieces -, jewelry box, enamels, gold workings, Murano chandeliers, terracotta sculptures and furniture (sideboards, chests, bookcases), with a rare marriage chest from Siena of the XIV century and a sedan chair from Naples of the XVIII century.
On the second floor there are temporary expositions and in the last years it has been housed some expositions of works coming from the Cini Foundation’s collections.
