Palace Mocenigo in San Stae, is a gorgeous example of private Venetian architecture of the beginning of the 17th century. It contains precious 18th century furniture and paintings. It is the seat of the Study Centre of the History of Fabrics and Costumes, and the Museum of the History of Fabrics and Costumes.

The museum houses rich and well structured collections, has a wide section of the most important clothes and rare accessories from various collections, and a selection of fabrics and costumes of unique value, above all Venetian. The exposition aims at linking the development of fashion with taste changes even of furniture, underlining correspondences and similarities in silhouettes, decorations, colors. Clothes and accessories are made with embroidered fabrics, often enhanced by embroideries and laces; they prove the talent of a multitude of artisans (weavers, tailors, lacemakers, embroideres, etc...) who contributed to the creation of such fine and luxurious elegance for which Venetians were famous. The corpus of the patrimony is kept inside the huge textile case. The museum has a considerable library specialized in this field.
