Masterpiece of Venetian baroque architecture, the church was built under the projct of Baldassarre Longhena (1631-81), who was chosen from the Council among the eleven project presented. The Church was built as a votive offering for the city's deliverance from the pestilence in 1630. Inside we can find works by Tiziano and Tintoretto.

Thanks to its spectacular effect and its magnificence, the church is one of the leading elements in the Venetian landscape.
The imposing mass of marble is crowded with statues and overcame by a huge hemispheric dome on the top of which lays the presbytery, composed by two semicircular apses, crowned by dome and bell towers.

As for the Church of Redentore, its solemn and magnificent interior, is organized around an octagonal map, covered by a thin dome.

At the right, there is the big sacristy: on the altar St. Mark and Saints, by a young Tiziano (1512), also author of the three canvas on the ceiling; on the altar’s right the Marriage at Cana by Tintoretto.
