The international gallery of modern art is located in Ca’ Pesaro, the most important Baroque Venetian palace overlooking the Grand Canal by Baldassarre Longhena.

Built in the second half of the 17th century thanks to the will of the noble and very rich family Pesaro, the palace was later given to the Gradenigo family, then to the Mechitarist Armenian Fathers, who used it as a college and it was eventually bought by the family Bevilacqua, who given the palace to the city addressing it to modern art, by the will of the duchess Felicita Bevilacqua La Masa.

In the palace, there are civic painting collections and nineteen-twentieth-century sculpture, among them stand out some masterpieces by KlimtChagall and remarkable works by Kandinsky and Klee, Matisse,  Moore, besides a rich selection of works by Italian artists and an artwork cabinet (from which a general catalog has been published).
The recent restoration, under the project by Boris Podrecca and Marco Zordan, has been realized after an accurate reinterpretation of the palace and of its history, saving its most significant elements and favoring the connections between the building and the urban surroundings.
The exposition route of the gallery, totally renewed, offers the guest a suggestive interpretation key of the development of a history and artistic period. The museum has an important library specialized in the nineteen-twentieth-century history. Upon booking, it is possible to join some thematic itineraries, workshops and educational activities. Among the services of the museum: photo archive, coffee bar, library, museum publications, shop, guided visits.
